Thank God it’s Friday because it has been a busy week. This week began on a good note because it was my birthday!!!!!!!!!!! I’m not telling my age to you guys; just know that I’m old lol. I had gone to Indianapolis for the weekend to celebrate since my birthday was on a Monday. Some of my friends came with me to Indianapolis which made the night a lot better. After I celebrated my birthday on Monday, I had to get back into my study habits so I could be prepared for two tests I had to take this week. One of the tests that I had to take was in my insurance 344 class. My insurance 344 class is probably the hardest class that I have on my schedule so I have to spend a little more time studying for it. The other test that I had to study for was my Spanish 2 test. I really don’t have a hard time in that class since the teacher is easy to communicate with and makes things easier to understand. So my week has been filled with a lot of studying and no play, well some play but you get my point. Well it seems like the weekend is here time to party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello readers! First of all I like to apologize for not updating my blog consistently; I promise to all my readers that I will blog consistently for the rest of the semester. It’s seems like I have a lot of catching up to do. This past two months has been crazy, filled with finals, traveling and some R & R. Now I’m back at school so it’s time to get back to work. I’m taking 18 credit hours similar to last semester therefore I have a full and busy schedule. Most of my classes are business and insurance classes. So far it’s been ok, I haven’t really experience the heavy work load yet but I’m not looking forward to it either. All my teachers are cool; they seem to interact very well with me and so that will help me get a good grade in the class. Well that’s pretty much how my first week school went so I’ll talk to you guys later.

A couple weekends ago I had the opportunity to drive with other members of my business fraternity toAtlanta, GA for a business conference. I’m apart Delta Sigma Pi a business fraternity here atIndianaState which is the Delta Tau chapter. Well the chapter decided to go to LEAD (Leadership and Excellence Academies for Deltasigs) which consist of provincial conferences, volunteer leadership workshops, and educational programs. It was held at the Marriot Hotel in Atlanta, GA. Schools that were participating in LEAD were George State, Virginia Tech, University of North Carolina, Florida State, Florida, UNC Greensboro, South Carolina and Howard. The members and I decided to leave on Friday 8 in morning so we could have enough time to arrive in Atlanta, check in and have time to ourselves for the night. So the drive took 9 hours, but I slept throughout the whole drive since I wasn’t driving.

Once we arrived in Atlanta we checked in the Marriot hotel and decided to get some rest since we had a long drive. After we were done taking a rest, me and some of the members decided to go to the Mall and browse a little. The mall was filled a lot of stores that we don’t have here in Terre Haute also we ended seeing Young Jezzy, rap star, at the mall. Later that night we went out to the night scene of Atlanta since we were all 21 haha. On Saturday we had the chance to meet up with other chapters from other schools while attending some leadership conferences. I learned a lot of information from the conferences that I can apply to our everyday life and in my chapter activities. After the conferences were done I had the chance to socialize with other members from different schools such as Howard Virginia Tech and Georgia State. That Saturday night I decided to stay at the hotel and hang out with my new friends while the members went out to the night scene. I had a wonderful time hanging out with the members from Howard, Virginia Tech and Georgia State it seemed like we had so much in common and that really made the night a lot better. We didn’t end up going to sleep around 4 a.m. It was a good thing that I went because I had a wonderful experience.

Other than attending classes, participating in student organizations, or just socializing with friends I spent a majority of my time in my dorm room. A dorm room is home away from home so therefore I try my best to have the home atmosphere in my room. It’s important to be comfortable in your own environment so you won’t get home sickness. Since I’m a Resident Assistant I get my own room to myself. As you can see I have one twin bed located against the wall so I won’t fall of my bed lol. Next to the bed is my magazine section. The reason why I have a magazine section is because when I have company come over they can read my collection of magazines and have something to keep them occupied. Across the magazine section is where I have my technology/entertainment area. My technology/entertainment area is made up of my flat screen computer, subwoofer, two speakers, TV and my turntables. I spend a majority of my time in this part of my room. Is either I’m doing homework on the computer, playing music on my turntables or just watching some sports on TV. As you can see I have both closets to myself. That’s a good thing because I have a lot of clothes to myself. Well I hope you guys enjoyed my room.

Wow, you wouldn’t believe what happened to me this past Wednesday. Well, at the beginning of the year I decided not to purchase a parking pass because ISU is in the process of building a new recreation center in the Lincoln Quads parking lot. Therefore, a lot of parking spots were taken away by the construction. So there was no guarantee of a parking spot on campus this year. Therefore, I’ve been parking my car by the Girls and Boys club across the street from my residential hall. Some of my classes are at the College of Business which is across campus from where I live.  So at times I would drive my car across campus to the student parking lot near my class. Now, this is where I tried to beat the system.  I am aware that I don’t have a parking pass to park in the student parking lot.  So, what I would do is park in the very back of the parking lot so hopefully I wouldn’t get caught by public safety. Sometimes I got away with it, but other times they seem to catch my four-door Geo Prism with a “DON’T BUMP” sign on the back. Well, this past week public safety has been catching me and my little scheme.  They gave me parking tickets for four straight days. So this past Wednesday I parked my car at the College of Business and proceeded to my Statistics, English 239, and Spanish classes that day. When I was done with my day I went back to the College of Business to pick up my car. I then proceeded to go to the spot where I had parked at earlier in the day.  It was then that I realized that my car wasn’t there so I circled the parking lot once then twice, then third, and forth time. The whole entire time I was in denial that public safety actually towed my car. I ended up calling public safety to ask them if they had towed my car, I was describing my car to the lady on the phone, and halfway through the conversation she stops me and says “Yep we have your car!”

Like everybody else this is my first blog, so I hope you guys enjoy it.

I’m starting off this week on a good note; the Colts beat the Texans 30-24 last night so normally when the Colts win it helps me start off to a good week because I am the BIGGEST COLTS FAN!!!!!!! Today was a good day overall, I woke up around 9:00 am so I can at least have an hour to prepare for my 10:00 am statistics class. My statistics class is ok, but it’s not one my favorite classes to attend. After my statistics class I’m headed to my English 239 class which is one of my favorite classes because we get to interact with each other about topics that we are reading about.

Today we were discussing about the book Magic of Blood which consists of a series of stories about a lot of topics such as homelessness, charity and fatherhood. It’s a pretty good book which a lot of students are enjoying. So it makes the whole class very enjoyable. After my English 239 class is over, I have an about an hour to spare so I usually spend time playing records on my turntables before my Spanish class.

Now Spanish class is another class that I really don’t like going to, but I always attend all classes so I can get a good grade. Today we didn’t really do much but just go over vocab words. Pretty much that ends my day in classes, so after 2:00 pm I have time to myself to chill and get some work done. Now since I’m a Resident Assistance, I’m like mommy and daddy all rolled into one. I normally have primary duty so that means I have to patrol the building all night, YEAH!!!! Well I’ll will post another blog by the end of this week, see ya.
